Uninor giving best services?

on:Uninor seems to be providing best services in the country as the telecom operator has out performed its competitors in India by adding 2.67 million users in the month of October.
According to a COAI (Cellular Operators Association of India), Idea has added 1.64 million users in the month to become the second successful operator — almost a million less than Uninor.
At present, Uninor services are commercially available in the thirteen circles of UP (West), UP (East), Bihar, Orissa, Kolkata, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Mumbai, Maharashtra and Gujarat.
Other GSM operators like Airtel (0.95 mn),Vodafone (0.92 mn), BSNL (0.51) and Aircel (0.49) have also added decent numbers of users to their kitty. Only Videocon registered a negative growth among the GSM operators.
MTNL, STel, Loop, and Etisalat registered very negligible growth, showed the COAI report.
However, Airtel still has the numero uno status with 173.73 million user base in the country. Meanwhile, the report said that there are 625.41 million GSM subscribers in India now by October end.
- Bharti Airtel has cornered around 22 per cent of the total revenue of Rs 46,891.61 crore earned by telecom service providers during the first quarter of 2011-12, regulator Trai said today.
- Airtel’s gross revenue was the highest at Rs 10,212.96 crore, followed by Vodafone at Rs 6,893.91 crore, Idea Cellular at Rs 4,600.77 crore and state-run BSNL at Rs 4427.80 crore, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) said in its India Telecom Services Performance Indicator Report.
- Revenues of Reliance Communication, state-run MTNL, Videocon and Quadrant Televentures, however dipped to Rs 3,014.90 crore, Rs 750.62 crore, Rs 162.18 crore and 51.40 crore, respectively.
- Tata Teleservices earned Rs 2,865.66 crore, Aircel Rs 1,541.09 crore, Unitech Rs 538.90 crore, Shyam Sistema Rs 279.05 crore, Loop Telecom 186.05 crore and S Tel Rs 38.52 crore.
- The gross revenue of Rs 46,891.61 crore is up by a marginal 3 per cent from the previous quarter. The revenue growth is 13 per cent compared to Rs 41,392.75 crore earned in the same period last fiscal. The adjusted gross revenue (AGR) on which the government charges the licence fee grew by 3.56 per cent Rs 32,589.93 crore in the first quarter, sequentially. Telecom service providers are charged a licence fee of 10 per cent of AGR in the metros and category ‘A’ areas, 8 per cent in in category ‘B’ areas and, 6 per cent category ‘C’ areas.
- UK-based mobile operator Vodafone today formed a partnership with Conexus Mobile Alliance which will expand market presence of both the companies across the world.
- The value to Vodafone of collaborating with Conexus will be significant, given the growing importance of Asia to our enterprise customers. These agreements will strengthen and deepen the benefits to our customers operating in these large and dynamic markets,” Vodafone’s Group Chief Commercial Officer “This [partnership] enhances the roaming experience for a combined global mobile customer base of over 600 million,” the company said.
- Vodafone said it intended to work with as many of the Conexus members as possible, complementing its own regional operations in India, Australia, Fiji and New Zealand, and its existing partners in Malaysia (Celcom) and Sri Lanka (Dialog).
- The London-headquartered company”s agreement with Conexus will include partnerships with FarEasTone (Taiwan), Hutchison Telecom (Hong Kong), NTT DOCOMO (Japan), SMART (the Philippines), StarHub (Singapore) and TrueMove (Thailand). Vodafone and Conexus also intend to expand partnerships with remaining Conexus members, such as KT in South Korea, to further enhance coverage.
