Glittering in gold: Noomi looked stunning in a halterneck gown as she posed for photographers at the premiere

She chopped off all her hair and got multiple piercings to play the role of hacker Lisbeth Salander in the highly-anticipated American movie version of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.

But as Noomi Rapace attended the premiere of Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows last night, the 31-year-old actress looked worlds away from her gritty appearance in the upcoming film.

With her hair teased into a high ponytail, Noomi glittered in a stunning gold gown as she posed for photographers at the Westwood Regency Village for the event.

And there was no sign of the nose and ear piercings, or the thick black eyeliner Salander has become famous for through Stieg Larsson’s novel.

Noomi spoke recently about how she changed her appearance to play Lisbeth, adding that she didn’t take on the movie lightly.

She said: ‘When I stepped into Lisbeth Salander, and when she grew in me, I was prepping for seven months, I changed my body a lot and I was training a lot, and I took the license for a motorcycle, and I did all those piercings and cut my hair.

All star cast: Director Guy Ritchie, actors Rachel McAdams, Jared Harris, Noomi Rapace, and Robert Downey Jr.

Last night, Noomi was joined by her Sherlock Holmes co-stars including Robert Downey Jr. and Rachel McAdams at the premiere, along with director Guy Ritchie and his girlfriend Jacqui Ainsley.

Noomi stars as gypsy Sim in the movie sequel, and said recently that she was welcomed to the franchise by Downey Jr. and fellow lead actor Jude Law.

She said: ‘It’s kind of being the new girl in the class or something. You can feel that the whole team and everybody has something really good, so it’s like stepping into something where somebody else has made the hard work so you can just fly, in a way. So it’s been a great, fantastic journey.’

The newest “Twilight” vampire movie ruled the domestic box office for a third time with $16.9 million in ticket sales over one of the slowest movie-going weekends of the year, studio estimates released on Sunday showed.

“The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn: Part 1” from independent studio Summit Entertainment beat a pack of family films at U.S. and Canadian theaters. The fourth and second-to-last film in one of Hollywood’s most lucrative franchises added $40.2 million at international locations.

After three weekends in theaters, “Breaking Dawn” has soaked up $588.3 million in global ticket sales.

The “Twilight” movies are based on best-selling novels by Stephenie Meyer about a human-vampire-werewolf love triangle.

The third domestic win in a row for “Breaking Dawn” came during the post-Thanksgiving weekend, typically one of the bleakest of the year at movie theaters following big releases a week earlier.

This year, total U.S. and Canadian ticket sales rang up at an estimated $82 million for the weekend, making it the year’s second slowest, according to Hollywood.com Box Office. Overall sales only slightly edged the $81.5 million take from the September 9 weekend that followed Labor Day.

With no new films released nationwide, sales also slumped 4.8 percent below the same weekend last year.

After “Breaking Dawn,” the rest of the weekend’s top five belonged to family fare.

Disney’s “The Muppets” starring Jason Segel and Amy Adams alongside Kermit, Miss Piggy and their puppet friends, rang up $11.2 million at North American (U.S. and Canadian) theaters. The movie represents a comeback for the Muppet characters, last seen in movie theaters in 1999. Worldwide sales for the new film have reached $60.1 million through Sunday.

“Hugo,” a 3D family movie about an orphaned boy who lives in a 1930s Paris train station, moved up to third place from its fifth place finish last weekend after expanding to more theaters. The film pulled in $7.6 million domestically, bringing its total after two weekends to $25.2 million.

Animated 3D movie “Arthur Christmas,” which explains how Santa delivers presents around the world in one night, pulled in $7.4 million domestically to finish in fourth place. To date, the movie has brought in $70.6 million worldwide.

In fifth place, dancing penguin sequel “Happy Feet Two” earned $6.0 million at domestic theaters. Total global sales reached $85.8 million after three weekends of release.

Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise, who is in India to promote the fourth installment of his “Mission Impossible” franchise, has squeezed in a special visit on his chock-a-block itinerary — the Taj Mahal in Agra. And guess who accompanied him in this mission? Co-star Anil Kapoor.

Cruise landed in Delhi early Saturday and headed straight to the Leela Palace, Chanakyapuri. He stayed at the hotel’s exquisite Maharaja suite, which has a personal gym, jacuzzi and is one of the most expensive suites in the country, said sources.

From there, the 49-year-old left for Agra with his “Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol” co-star Anil Kapoor. The international star would be staying in Oberoi Amar Villas in the Taj city.

Kapoor is also set to co-host a party for Cruise along with Viacom 18 in Mumbai Saturday night.

The bash would be a private 150-guest affair at the Taj Rooftop, Colaba. However, some Bollywood’s A-listers like Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar, Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan would not be seen at the bash as they are either out of town or have expressed their inability to join in.

The only Khan superstar at the bash would be Aamir.

“We had originally planned to invite 200 guests. That’s now been narrowed down to 150,” says a source.

“Tom is a really cool guy. When Anil asked him whom he’d like to meet from Bollywood and from other walks of life he said, ‘No one and everyone’. Tom says he’s on a mission to promote ‘Mission Impossible’.

“So for him, the fan interaction is the most important part of his itinerary. The only desire he expressed for his India visit was to visit the Taj Mahal,” he added.

The guest list also includes names like Mukesh and Neeta Ambani, the Godrejs, Birlas, the Bachchans (minus Aishwarya), Aamir Khan, Katrina Kaif and Karan Johar.

“In Mumbai, Kapoor is expected to whisk Tom for a brief visit to see his home and meet his family — again Tom’s wish. Then, Tom checks into his hotel, prepares for the party which is expected to last for no more than two hours. He says he wants to be fresh for the fan interaction on Sunday,” the source added.

Cruise, who features as intelligence agent Ethan Hunt in the popular film franchise, is hosting a special screening for 1,500 fans two weeks before the film’s worldwide release Dec 21.

The latest music video to drop from Haus of Gaga is here — and it’s more of an autobiographical mini-documentary than anything else.

A whopping 14-minutes long, Lady Gaga‘s “Marry the Night” video relives what the pop star says was one of her darkest days during her rise to fame.

“It was one of the worst days of my life and it happened quite quickly, but in my mind, when I think back on that period of my life, it all happened very slow,” she told E! prior to the world premier of the much-anticipated video Thursday, referring to when she was dropped by her first record label, Island Def Jam.

Directed by the Lady herself, the video starts off with the singer being wheeled along on a gurney by two Calvin Klein-clad nurses, her hair coiffed in a tousled brunette bob.

“When I look back on my life it’s not that I don’t want to see things exactly as they happened,” a robotic sounding Gaga says in a voice over. “It’s just that I prefer to remember them in an artistic way.”

It’s unclear in video what’s brought the pop star to her bed-ridden state at what appears to be some sort of clinic or insane asylum, but an older nurse who delivered her from birth tells the “morphine princess” to stay away from intimacy for two weeks.

“I’m gonna be a star,” a teary-eyed Gaga tells her. “You know why? Because I have nothing left to lose.”

Flash forward, and the pop-star is a ballerina appearing alone on stage. The next minute, she is topless and laying in bed, when she gets a phone call.

“But I’m an artist,” she says into the receiver, before going absolutely ballistic.

She does what any rejected aspiring pop star would do: smashes mirrors, destroys her apartment and dumps a box of Honey Nut Cheerios over her head before collapsing in a tub. She begins dying her brown locks blond.

A Madonna-esque Gaga steps out in the next scene donning a bedazzled denim ensemble.

“I did what any girl would do,” she says in a voice over. “I did it all over again.” Cue music.

As the song finally begins (eight minutes in to the actual video), Gaga tries to sneak into a car through the sunroof while around her, abandoned vehicles burn in the night.

Seconds later, she’s in a dance studio, practicing her best pop-star moves along with a host of other aspiring dancers.

The rest of the video is pretty tame by Gaga standards, save for a few flashbacks to her freaking out in a bathtub. She dances on the streets while wearing blue lipstick. She tumbles down some stairs. She lights a few cars on fire. And then it’s over.

The latest film of teen vampires and werewolves franchise “Twilight Saga” has grossed a total of 508 million U.S. dollars in ticket sales from global box office since it was screened 12 days ago, producer and distributor Summit Entertainment said Tuesday.

“The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1” has also reached a milestone in North America, taking in 223 million dollars in selling ticket stubs in theaters in the United States and Canada, according to the studio.

“We couldn’t be more pleased with the success of this film and a franchise that the fans have continued to support over the past several years,” the company’s Co-Chairmen Rob Friedman and Patrick Wachsberger said in a statement.

The film has topped the foreign box office for a second-straight weekend with 76 million dollars in receipts from 68 markets, according to latest statistics.

Industry analysts said as the penultimate film of the popular series, “Breaking Dawn” was expected to take in about 650 million dollars from the global box office and Summit Entertainment would reap 228 million dollars in profit.

Actress Amy Adams has been opening up about her role in The Muppets movie which opened on Nov. 23 and it appears she couldn’t be happier for the chance to take on her role.

Adams told KABC-TV:

“I had ‘The Muppet Movie’ in rotation constantly in my childhood and every road trip – even as a teenager and even into adulthood – I would play ‘Movin’ Right Along’ and so it’s definitely just a part of who I am.”

Adam’s plays the girlfriend of Jason Segel’s character Gary, After Gary and his brother Walter discover that oil tycoon Tex Richman (Chris Copper) wants to tear down the Muppet Theater to drill for oil they travel to Los Angeles to save the landmark of their beloved muppets but first they have to find all of the muppets who have become separated from one another over the years.

Speaking about the movies actual production Adams told The National Post:

“I have a whole new respect for the puppeteers. I did not know it was so technical, so complicated and so specific.”

For her next role Amy Adams can be seen alongside Kristen Stewart and Sam Riley in On The Road which will be released at theaters in 2012.

The Muppets movie managed to rake in $40 million this weekends opening showtimes, not bad for a movie with a reported budget of just $45 million. Did you head out to theaters this weekend to see the new Muppets movie?

The good news for studios was that, overall, people liked what they saw in theaters over the long Thanksgiving holiday. The bad news was that there were a lot fewer of them than in years past.

In fact, despite some highly regarded new movies, it was the slowest Thanksgiving moviegoing weekend in the last four years. Ticket sales were down roughly 11% compared with the same period last year. So far this year, attendance is off about 5%, and box office receipts are down about 4%.

“The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 1” was easily the No. 1 film, taking in $62.3 million Wednesday to Sunday, according to an estimate from distributor Summit Entertainment. Since the film’s release the previous weekend, the fourth installment in the vampire romance franchise has collected $221.3 million.

Meanwhile, three well-reviewed PG-rated films fought for young moviegoers at the multiplex with varying degrees of success. “The Muppets,” the latest film incarnation of Jim Henson’s popular felt puppets, came out on top with a respectable $42 million over the five-day period. “Arthur Christmas,” an animated 3-D holiday tale, took in a lackluster $17 million. Martin Scorsese’s “Hugo,” a lavish 3-D family story about the early days of filmmaking, grossed $15.4 million — almost as much as “Arthur” despite playing on about 2,000 fewer screens.

“The Muppets,” which stars and was co-written by Jason Segel, performed far better than previous feature films featuring Miss Piggy and Kermit the Frog. In 1999, “Muppets From Space” mustered only $22 million by the end of its run.

Shipments of stereoscopic 3D TV panels continue to grow both quarter-over-quarter as well as year-over-year, according to market tracking firm NPD DisplaySearch. Manufacturers of panels and actual HDTVs expect sales of stereo-3D TV-sets to grow even more significantly in the fourth quarter of 2011 and in 2012.

Shipments of stereo-3D (S3D) LCD TV panels reached 6.6 million units in Q3 2011, an increase of 27% growth QoQ. The pattern retarder type and shutter glass type are growing by 34% and 23%, respectively. According to a recent NPD DisplaySearch report, panel makers are targeting very strong 30% growth in 3D LCD TV panel shipments for Q4 2011. Downstream manufacturers and brands are continuously promoting 3D, and end-user awareness and interest are growing. In Q3 2011, 3D TV panel penetration in total LCD TV panel shipments reached 12%.

“The TFT LCD industry has been in oversupply for six consecutive quarters, which has influenced the price premium for 3D panels. While there are still many questions about the lack of 3D content and services, as well as end-users’ needs, LCD TV panel makers have been strongly promoting 3D through lower prices and the introduction of new, cost-effective technologies,” noted David Hsieh, vice president, Greater China market for NPD DisplaySearch.

While LCD TV panel shipments did not grow in Q3 2011, 3D panel shipment growth was healthy, and panel makers are targeting 30% QoQ growth for Q4 2011.

According to NPD DisplaySearch estimates based on panel makers’ shipment targets, 3D LCD TV panel shipments will reach 21.5 million units in 2011, with 3D penetration in LCD TV panels of 10% (4% pattern retarder type and 6% shutter glass type). Furthermore, with the launch of a series of newly developed low-cost 3D solutions, panel makers are targeting 20% 3D penetration in LCD TV panels by Q3 2012. This level of 3D TV penetration may lead to more content availability.

In addition to 3D TV, panel makers are aggressively promoting 3D monitor panels, especially for consumer entertainment PC and game markets. In 3D LCD monitors, pattern retarder makers are more aggressive than shutter glass makers. Panel makers are targeting shipments of more than 1.5 million per quarter from Q2 2012 onward. This is up from 250 thousand units in Q3 2011.

Indo-Canadian porn star Sunny Leone, who is taking part in Colors’ controversial reality show Bigg Boss Season 5, has been approached by filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt for Murder 3. The film will star his son and ex Bigg Boss housemate Rahul Bhatt as the male lead.

Bhatts had earlier approached the adult film star for another film but things didn’t work out at that point of time. “Mahesh Bhatt wanted to launch his son Rahul opposite Sunny Leone in a film titled Blue Film. At the time, Leone had no intentions of making a Bollywood debut. She had turned down the offer back then. However, now, she has made it pretty clear that she is game for Hindi cinema. Mahesh is apparently reviving Blue Film at the moment,” a source told Subhash K Jha.

Rahul Bhatt told Jha: “Yes, my father was going to launch me with Sunny Leone in Blue Film. But it didn’t materialise. About the project being revived now, I am not denying it. But you will have to ask my father. I am a big fan of Leone.”

Mahesh Bhatt admitted casting Sunny with his son but the project is no longer Blue Film. “That’s the cast for Murder 3,” the filmmaker told Jha.

Samsung Electronics, the world’s top TV maker, is in last-stage talks with Google to roll out its Google TVs, the head of Samsung’s TV division told reporters.

Google TV — which currently comes built-in on certain Sony Corp television models and on Logitech International set-top boxes — allows consumers to access online videos and websites on their TVs, as well as specialized apps such as video games.

Samsung in January displayed a new Google TV-enabled Blu-ray player and companion box at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), but did not commercialize the offerings

Yoon Boo-keun, president of Samsung’s TV division, said the company planned to unveil its Google TV at an event next year without elaborating on the schedule, saying only the firm was working with Google on the rollout

Model-turned-actress Nargis Fakhri, who made her Bollywood debut with ” Rockstar”, may be named the global face of luxury car brand Jaguar Land Rover from the house of Tata Motors.

The actress unveiled the Range Rover Evoque in the capital Friday, but no formal announcement of her association was made.

Nargis was also named the brand ambassador of apparel brand Van Heusen Woman and she is also said to have clocked a deal with haircare brand Parachute.

“The industry’s response to Nargis has been phenomenal. She is getting the best offers in terms of films and endorsements, and this is just the beginning,” said an industry source.

Everyday fights, high voltage dramas, bikini clad girls and other reality TV staples, despite all the controversies and added spices, Bigg Boss season five has not really taken off so far. The makers of the show are now taking desperate measures by getting a porn star into the house to make it popular on the idiot box.

The newest house mate – international adult movie star Sunny Leon a.k.a. Karen Malhotra – is all set to heat up the already heated house further.

With confirmation that Sony Pictures had signed a ‘hefty’ deal for the feature rights to Walter Isaacson’s biography of Steve Jobs, it has emerged that former ER star George Clooney could play the leading role in the movie, due to begin filming next year.

The Sun reports that the 50 year-old actor will be up against his former ER co-star Noah Wyle for the role, which will chart the life of the Apple co-founder and revered leader. However, Clooney faces a challenge to edge out his former work colleague following Wyle’s previous portrayal of Steve Jobs in the 1999 TNT TV series ‘Pirates of Silicon Valley’.

Recent reports suggested that the film studio was working hard to secure the services of Aaron Sorkin, writer of Sony Pictures’ techie hit The Social Network. The writer was said to be considering the prospect but had not made a decision to sign up for the project.

Tesco has started trialling augmented reality technology in its stores today in a bid to bring certain products to life and save on shelf space

By holding a Tesco Direct catalogue or a product key up to webcams placed in the supermarket’s aisles, shoppers will be able to generate life-size 3D projections of products and learn more about their specifications before making a purchase.

By having this alternative and interactive way to show off products, Tesco will no longer need to have some of the bulkier consumer electronic products it now sells physically stocked on shelves.

The augmented reality service is being provided by British company Kishono and is the first time a major retailer has invested so much into this relatively new area of technology.

Time Warner Cable Inc. (TWC), the second- largest U.S. cable-television provider, expects to agree a deal with HBO “soon” to offer the HBO Go application to subscribers so they can see shows on mobile devices.

The two companies are still working through the details, Time Warner Cable Chief Operating Officer Robert Marcus said in an interview at a conference in Barcelona organized by Morgan Stanley. He declined to give a specific timeframe.

Time Warner Cable and HBO have been in negotiations since at least May and were near to a deal in September to let Time Warner customers watch shows such as “Curb Your Enthusiasm” and “The Sopranos” on mobile devices, two people close to the talks said at the time. Marcus said he’s confident that a deal will be reached and wouldn’t say what is delaying an agreement.

Currently, customers of Comcast Corp. (CMCSA), DirecTV (DTV), Dish Network Corp. (DISH), Verizon Communications Inc. (VZ)’s FiOS, AT&T Inc. (T)’s U-verse, Charter Communications Inc. (CHTR) and Cox Communications Inc. can authenticate themselves as paying HBO subscribers and get content from HBOGO.com.

Pink parade: Katie in her glamour-mobile with ex, Leandro Penna - Snapper

Glamour model Katie Price is worried a tracking device found in her hot pink car could be linked to a kidnap threat earlier this year.

The device was discovered by mechanics during a routine service, prompting a police investigation into why it was there in the first place.

A concerned Katie tweeted her worries about the discovery, writing: ‘I can’t believe what has been found under my car!!!! Another police situation.’ She also spoke to the Daily Mirror about the incident, saying she believes someone could have been creeping around her home.

“The car was last serviced on August 16, so I know someone’s been snooping around my property and shoved it on between then and now.

‘Basically it meant whoever planted it knew exactly where I was at all times and could then follow me…it’s terrifying.’

Police are using the tracking device’s security number to see where it was bought and hopefully, discover the creepo who tried to bug Katie.
