Dell has officially launched its Windows 7 based tablet – Latitude ST. The tablet PC comes with security and productivity features that will entice the business users.

The price of the tablet starts at Rs 36,000, with up to 32 GB SSD which can be upgraded to 64 and 128 GB SSD Storage.

The tablet comes with a 10 inch multi-touch display with a stylus. You can also get a docking station with keyboard. The tablet uses Intel Atom chipset with 2 GB of RAM and has front and rear (5 megapixel) cameras with HD recording facility. Besides, it connects to projectors, printers, and other devices using built-in ports. For protection it comes with rubberised bumper, and anti-glare Corning Gorilla Glass screen.

There are several inbuilt applications for people working in education, healthcare and some other familiar business applications too.

The tablet will also offer controls that IT administrators want on employee PCs. Other specifications include 10.1 inch WXGA LED capacitive multi-touch screen, digital pen display with a resolution of 1280 x 800, WiFi, 3G, Bluetooth 4.0, A- GPS, USB 2.0, SD Memory card reader, HDMI. The tablet weighs 816 g.

  • Thanks to a combination of the data and storage management features inherent in Dell’s systems and Merge’s iConnect offering, healthcare providers can now easily manage their critical medical images in a highly secure and efficient manner. As per the agreement, Merge will also integrate its solutions within the DX platform to provide a highly-available, cost-effective VNA offering. Merge’s iConnect VNA will utilize the data management features of the DX to offer advanced features such as federated storage, business continuance and nested image retention and deletion strategies.

  • Leading PC maker Dell India said it is targeting to become a top solutions provider in enterprising and services segments in the next five years.


  • We now want to become top solutions provider in next five years and leveraging 26,000 workforce which is one fourth of Dell’s global workforce,” Dell India MD Ganesh Lakshminarayanan told reporters here on the sidelines of an IT conclave.


  • Dell India, which recorded 21 per cent growth in business during May till July, has 17 per cent market share in India with total business revenue of USD 2 billion. He said Indian IT market was quite lucrative and IT services was pegged at USD 8 billion which would reach USD 14 billion in next few years.


  • The company has PC manufacturing facility in Chennai with a capacity of 2 million units per annum. It also exports PC to the Middle East and Africa.


  • Earlier speaking on this occasion, Lakshminarayanan said five opportunities that exist for the Indian SMBs are eCommerce, mobility, eBanking, cloud computing and commercialisation of information technology, especially with the growing penetration of computers, internet, and mobile services.
